Round Two: Essentials to Add to Your Second Baby Registry
When you’re putting together a registry for your second baby, you already know what you loved, what you didn’t need, and what you wished you had the first time. Most of what we added this round were simple add-ons, small upgrades, and a few new essentials to make our existing gear work for two kids. From converting our stroller to a double to refreshing the basics, here’s everything we included for baby #2.
See here for registry recommendations for baby #1.
Transportation
UPPAbaby Rumble Seat V3 – This is what converts the single Vista stroller into a double. It’s an upright seat for the older child that sits at the bottom/front of the stroller. Just FYI, the V3 is compatible with the Vista V2 stroller.
UPPAbaby Upper Adapters – required when using the Rumble Seat. This elevates the Toddler Seat or Infant Car Seat and gives it enough clearance.
UPPAbaby PiggyBack Ride Along Board – Attaches to the back of the stroller, by the basket. It’s a fun option for the older child when they don’t feel like walking or riding in the stroller anymore.
Joie Rosemary LX Double Stroller – A great side-by-side double with independently adjustable seats and canopies. We plan to use this as our go-to lightweight travel stroller for two.
Brica Magnetic Stretch to Fit Car Sun Shades – I like that these attach to the interior of the car so that you can still roll your windows down. They also have a white hot sensor to let you know the temperature of the car.
Munchkin Baby Car Mirrors – Love the style we bought last time, so got 2 more (one for each car).
Nuna RAVA Convertible Car Seat – You can use this from birth (but we prefer an infant car seat that easily attaches to the stroller) or for the next stage when they outgrow the infant car seat until 65 lbs forward-facing. It’s nice and plush and protective.
SlumberTot Inflatable Toddler Bed – Wyatt will get the Baby Bjorn Travel Crib and Margot will graduate to this inflatable toddler bed when we travel.
Feeding
Stokke Tripp Trapp High Chair and Newborn Set – With a toddler running around, the Snuggle Me Organic Lounger wasn’t a realistic option this time. The newborn set brought him up to table height, and in hindsight, I wish we had this from the start.
Baby Brezza Bottle Washer Pro – Wish we would’ve had this the first time. Especially helpful for bottle-fed babies or daycare, since it makes it easy to run multiple loads a day.
Momcozy Bottle Warmer – For heating up bottles at home. Pretty universal for use with most bottles.
Momcozy Portable Bottle Warmer – For heating bottles on-the-go. Comes with adapters for a handful of bottles.
Bottles – Don’t try to be cool like me and just get the same bottles your first born liked. It’ll save you money and a lot of headaches. After trying Boon, Lansinoh, and Avent brands, we ended up using MAM again.
Cozy Cub Burp Cloths – We go through so many burp cloths with spit ups, unexpected open-air pees, etc. we needed more!
Nursery
Ubbi Stainless Steel Diaper Pail – Still love that this diaper pail can use any 13 gallon trash bags (does not need to be brand specific like Diaper Genie).
Keekaroo Peanut Wipeable Changing Pad – Easy to wipe down and clean. Using these Mushie Burp Cloths as a liner during colder months.
Hiccapop Baby Wipe Warmer – I’ve heard wipe warmers are a must with boys, so we got this one and it works well.
Hatch Rest+ 2nd Gen – We’re a big Hatch family and everyone has one in their room now.
Babyletto Hudson Crib – Margot wasn’t ready to move out of her crib yet (which also transitions into a toddler bed), so we got this 3-in-1 crib for Wyatt.
Newton Waterproof Crib Mattress – We used and loved this brand with Margot, so we added the same version for Wyatt. It’s two-sided — breathable for infants and waterproof for toddlers — making it a great long-term option.
Crib Sheets – Two sets so one is always clean. We got these Mushie and these Babyletto sheets for Wyatt.
HelloBaby Baby Monitor – When Wyatt moved into his own room, he took Margot’s monitor, and we added this pan/tilt/zoom camera for her so we can see the whole room, not just the crib.
Bathing
Ingenuity My Bath Seat – This has been great for shared baths now that he’s outgrown the Skip Hop 3-Stage Bathtub Set we used with Margot.
Tubby Todd Baby Bundle – All of the essentials to get you started. Includes Everyday Lotion, Hair + Body Wash, All Over Ointment, and Sweet Cheeks Diaper Paste.
Bath Towels – Little man needed his own collection of hooded animal bath towels (like this Shark from Carter’s and Cookie Monster from Brooklinen).
Keababies Washcloths – It was time for a wash cloth refreshment, I like how soft and plush these are.
For You
Frida Mom Postpartum Essentials Recovery Kit – This has everything you need, so a fresh kit is definitely a must-have for baby #2.
DoorDash Gift Cards – Have never DoorDashed as much as we have now that we have 2 kids. There’s some nights it’s 100% needed and super appreciated if there’s no meal train planned.
If you’re building a registry for baby #2, this is a good place to start — focus on what makes life easier, not just what you think you need.
