Pacifiers, Cribs & Formula: How We Closed Out 2025
YOU GUYS. We accomplished a lot at the tail end of the 2025 and I want to celebrate it. We went through several major transitions.
Weaned Margot from her nighttime pacifier. Literally thought this would never happen.
Moved Wyatt into his room/big crib. Basically evicted him from our room and the SNOO, but omg was it needed all around. He (and we) are doing so well!!
Transitioned from exclusively breastfeeding to exclusively formula feeding. This didn’t go without having several spirals, especially with the whole ByHeart recall (we’ve always been team Bobbie, but regardless, reading Instagram about formula feeding vs. breastfeeding = not helpful). Had to endure one more bout of mastitis during the weaning phase (how did this NOT happen with Margot?!), but again we are all so happy.
Next on the horizon: potty training. We have nonchalantly been introducing this since Margot turned 2 years old. She got a potty, Once Upon a Potty, and Elmo P Is For Potty! book for her 2nd birthday. And she’s peed ~5 times on the potty(!!). We’ve also introduced the Ms. Rachel Potty Training episode and the Ms. Rachel Potty Time with Bean book.
The biggest thing is trying to get her to tell us BEFORE she needs to go to the bathroom (including in the bathtub…which A NUMBER TWO recently just happened 😵💫). But right now, every soiled diaper is a “poopy diaper.”
Since we just went through a few rough months, we are giving ourselves the month of January to do nothing. The plan is to start talking about using the potty more in February (we’ve actually already started doing this since the poo in the tub), and start “enforcing” it more in March (maybe?).
The goal is to have her fully potty trained by her third birthday. She’s been pretty easy with everything else so far, so I’m hopeful. I’m also banking on the strong desire to wear panties being the ultimate motivator—which means it’s probably time to find some very cute ones.
