Best Thrift Stores in San Diego
Lately, I’ve been on a thrift store kick, hunting for a few specific items: crystal candlestick holders, a 9x12 landscape oil painting on canvas with a minimal frame, side table, and table lamps. At this point, I’ve visited a handful of thrift and consignment stores, from Oceanside to Downtown San Diego. Below are a few that I’d recommend for your treasure hunting.
Consignment Classics
201 S. El Camino Real, Encinitas, CA
From couches to full dining and bedroom sets, this large warehouse-style consignment shop has the largest selection of furniture.
Consignment Classics Decor Store
205 S. El Camino Real, Encinitas, CA
Kitty-corner from Consignment Classics, the Decor Store has a good selection of affordable crystal, knick-knacks and artwork. I scored and found a crystal candlestick holder for $3.
Consignment Classics
3602 Kurtz St, San Diego, CA
By the same name as the Consignment Stores in Encinitas, Consignment Classics near downtown San Diego boasts being the largest antique store in San Diego with over 40,000 sq feet of real estate. This large warehouse is broken into small, vendor stalls. It had the widest selection of furniture and home decor, however, the price points were significantly higher.
Sea Hive Marketplace
1555 S Coast Hwy, Oceanside, CA
This store was deceptively larger than what you’d think from the outside. With over 13,000 sq. ft, a wide array of vendors have small pop-up shops here, varying from handmade artisanal goods to vintage pieces. On my second visit, I ended up leaving with a framed mirror with an etched floral motif, an 18x24 original oil painting of Borrego Springs, and a 9x12 landscape print.
Lucky Street Antiques
1722 S Coast Hwy, Oceanside, CA
The best place for mid-century modern furniture and decor, I found as close to the painting I was envisioning as possible, except for the fact it was painted on velvet (lol).
Badlands Vintage
1839 S Coast Hwy, Oceanside, CA
New to Oceanside, Badlands Vintage is your go-to spot if you’re seeking 80s/90s furniture and decor. While I’d classify our style as more mid-century modern, I didn’t find any pieces for our home.
Goodwill Stores
Miscellaneous Locations
From Oceanside to Point Loma to Hillcrest, I’ve been on a treasure hunt to find some good stuff at Goodwill. The Point Loma store is definitely the biggest. And while I didn’t find anything on my list, I did walk away with a set of four, semi-ornate wine glasses for $7 total that will furnish our floating shelves and also serve as entertaining glasses.
