24-Hour Trip to Ojai

We recently took our first overnight trip as a family of three to celebrate our wedding anniversary in Ojai. Margot was 2 months old, and before she was born, it seemed too early to travel. I figured she wouldn’t be sleeping well and we’d still be sleep deprived. However, after our local adventures (Target, doctor’s appointments, dinners out) and averaging ~6 hour sleep stretches at night, we were feeling confident and figured this would be a good test for future travels.

Our favorite hotel, The Capri Hotel, usually requires a 2-night minimum for weekends, but luckily I was able to find a one-night Saturday to Sunday stay the weekend we wanted to visit. Two nights felt daunting but one night felt palatable, especially since this would be Margot’s first time sleeping in the travel crib and she usually sleeps in the SNOO.

The drive is 3.5 hours away from San Diego and we only had to make one 30-minute pit stop for a good feeding session and diaper change.

In Ojai, we’ve got our favorite restaurants down to a science. And fortunately, they are all ironically order counters.

Lunch at Topa Topa Brewing/Sama Sama

Dinner at Ojai Rotie

469 E Ojai Ave, Ojai, CA 93023

Brunch at The Nest

401 E Ojai Ave, Ojai, CA 93023

If we had one more meal, we would’ve gone to the Tortilla House too.

The highlight of this trip was getting Margot in the swimming pool for the very first time. She loves her baths and the pool was no different. She also slept for 5 hours straight in the travel crib, which was such a surprise after we were anticipating being up every 2 hours. She was such a good traveler and it made us look forward to our next trip (a big one!) to Kauai this winter.
